Paragon Airheater Technologies began over 35 years ago as Power Replacements Incorporated (PRI). From the outset, owners Philip Freidberg and Max Wheeler focused on serving the power industry. PRI began to grow, adding a plant in Pennsylvania, designing custom high-performance air preheater replacement parts, and offering comprehensive air preheater inspection, maintenance and technical services.
Over the next ten years, PRI continued to expand its product line and its customer base, while continuing to provide air preheater parts and service for power generators nationwide. In 1996 Philip Freidberg’s son, Jack had an inspiration for a radically new kind of air preheater seal—one that would block more air, and wouldn’t wear out so quickly. Jack took his idea to Wayne Kozacka, a trusted friend and engineer, for refinement. Together, they completed and patented the design, and subsequently marketed their innovation to power generators.
In April 2005, an investment group, completed the purchase of PRI and began to execute on a new “Hyper Growth” strategy that encompassed; capturing a larger market share and the innovation of new products and technologies.
The company quickly gained momentum and became the industry’s predominant air preheater performance and service provider. In celebration, they have changed their name to Paragon Airheater Technologies, in order to reflect the commitment to being the unrivaled air preheater performance experts.

MYLSA – Mexico
In October 2005, Paragon established its first Joint Venture relationship with Mylsa - Maquinaria Y Laminados, SA DE C.V. The JV relationship and investment made in MYLSA granted Paragon the ability to manufacture basketed element. Paragon added a new automated production line to the existing two production lines installed at MYLSA. This new line increased the basket production by 65% to approximately 450 baskets per day. The agreement is exclusive to Paragon and MYLSA will only produce baskets for Paragon.
Paragon plans to continue to expand its manufacturing facilities by adding 2 additional lines that will produce the patented DuraSheild coated baskets. The DuraSheild technology is expected to revolutionize the market and will once again set Paragon at the forefront of the market.
