DuraMax™ Radial Installation Instructions
The following instructions are for standard installation of DuraMax™ Radial seals. If you have any questions, please contact us for further assistance.
  • DuraMax™ Installation Instructions for DuraMax™ Radial Seals

The following instructions are for standard installation of DuraMax™ Radial seals. Please note that DuraMax™ Radial Seals are not bi-directional.  DuraMax™ seals must also be mounted on to the leading edge side of the diaphragm.  Damage may occur and the warranty may be voided if installed incorrectly. Please read the instructions below and on page 2, Direction of rotation, for proper installation.  If you have any questions, please contact your Paragon Airheater Technologies Service Representative at (888) 488-3100 for further assistance.

    1. Set the outer seal first with the bellows facing the correct direction (see page 2, Direction of Rotation for proper direction).  This will ensure that the intermediate and inner seals bellows will align with the outer seal for proper direction of rotation.
    2. Paragon will mark the customer’s Group 7000 Seal Setting Chart for proper seal clearances.  Refer to these markings during installation.
    3. It is recommended that one row of new seals be set at "0" clearance to the radial sector plate, then rotate the rotor slowly and check for proper radial sector plate adjustment and alignment.  However, if the sector plates are out of alignment the radial seal clearances should be set to the lowest sector plate.
    4. After the sector plate alignment is completed, adjust the first row of seals to the proper specifications.  It is recommended that the alignment bar be installed once the initial row of seals is adjusted properly.  After all radial seals are adjusted to the alignment bar, the unit should be rotated to check for proper clearances.  This will also avoid missing a diaphragm during installation of the remaining seals.
    5. The air drive should rotate the rotor after seals are set to proper specifications.  If rotor stoppage is encountered, check adjustments and sector plate alignment.

Note: The radial seals should always be mounted to the leading edge side of the diaphragm as depicted in the above drawing. Mounting the radial seals on the trailing edge of the diaphragm will damage the seals and void all warranties.
